I'm Done!

Hi Everybody, I am very, very, very glad to report that my book is done! After two years of writing, I've gotten to the point where I don't think I can do any better. If and when I find a publisher, the editor will undoubtedly ask for additional changes, but I've done all that I can for now. It feels good to be done, but it also feels a little lonely. Writing about Forrest and our life together has brought him close to me again and it's hard to say good-bye a second time. It's not like the last good-bye, but it's still hollow. Peter started reading the book last night. I read him a few sections along the way but mostly he didn't want to hear it or read it until it was done. It's hard to wander around the house while he reads. I know the book by heart by now, so I can sort of guess what he's reading as he sits there. Mostly I'm wondering if it will be emotional for him. No doubt it will be. He read the first 30 pages last night and didn't say anything when he was done, so I had to ask him what he thought. Men!! His response was that it was fun to read. I love that answer. I'll keep you posted in the coming months as the work of finding an agent and publisher goes on. If I can't find someone to publish it, I'll make copies for those of you who would like to read it. I confess that I love the book. The stories are inherently good, I think. The challenge has been to write them well. I'm thankful to my weekly writing group for the tremendous help they've given. I've learned a ton and I'm very excited about sharing the book with all of you and others. If any of you are in the publishing industry or if you know someone who is, I welcome your input and advice. I'm grateful to have many excellent writer friends here in Woodstock who have already offered help, but can always use more. Much love and thanks for your support along the way. Bar
